Dominic Lafontaine is an Algonquin multimedia artist, poet and musician. His audacious, humourous and often absurd artworks explore the very notions of cultural identity, meaning and belonging. A graduate of Visual Arts at Ottawa University, he synthesizes his knowledge of traditional art forms with new media in order to redefine the visual language of contemporary native art. Dominic Lafontaine est un artiste, poète et musicien Algonquin. Ses œuvres artistiques, souvent audacieuses, humoureuses et absurdes, explorent les notions d’identité, de sens et d’appartenance culturelle. Un gradué en Arts Visuels à l’Université d’Ottawa, Il cherche à synthétiser sa connaissance de l’histoire de l’art autochtone avec des nouveaux médias afin de redéfinir le vocabulaire esthétique de l’art anishinabe contemporain.
