The industry represented in the NUMIX Awards categories is known for innovation and multidisciplinarity. Your project may therefore fall into several categories. If in doubt, we advise you to select the category that highlights the component of the project you wish to put forward (e.g. strong artistic signature, interactivity, anchoring in place, etc.). Podcast
Production with audio content, single or in series, accessible on digital audio broadcasting platforms.

Podcast - Fiction and Experimental
A Podcast, production or sound journey whose narrative explores new forms of fictional or experimental audio writing. The productions are made up of content that are scripted during recording or post-production, and have a planned narrative. They often use rich sound environments to support the narrative, and may feature highly edited testimonials in post-production. This includes all genres of fiction: drama, comedy, etc.Podcast - Social Issue
A podcast, production, or sound journey with informative or educational characteristics, presenting documentary qualities and value. Productions focus on discussion or re-appropriation of a social issue (relationships between individuals, equity and inclusion, mental health, self-acceptance, research, etc.).Podcast - History, Culture and Science

Accompanied by a CAD $5,000 grant from Radio-Canada OHdio, this award recognizes the excellence of an independent producer or production company that stands out for the quality, originality, and impact of its digital audio content.To be eligible for this award, applicants must be an independent production company or a professional freelance producer based in Quebec who has produced and broadcast at least one podcast project during the eligibility year (advertising content is not eligible).
The jury will evaluate the submitted projects on their creative and technical merits.
Capsule and Series
Original linear video production, single or in series, available on one or more online platforms, or premiered on one or more online platforms.
Capsule and Series - Fiction
Fiction video production in short or long format, including all genres: drama, comedy, animation, etc.Capsule and Series - Documentary and reportage
Video production in short or long format, informative or didactic, with documentary qualities and value. It focuses on the discussion or re-appropriation of a social issue (relations between individuals, equity and inclusion, mental health, self-acceptance, research, etc.), the highlighting of a historical, cultural or scientific aspect, a report on events in the form of a narrative, or a scripted portrait of a character.Capsule and Series - Youth and Family

XR
A fiction or documentary project in which the audience is immersed in the image, or whose interactive aspect adds to the user's experience. It can make use of, but is not limited to, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR). This includes all genres of fiction: drama, comedy, animation, etc.A CAD $5,000 grant will be awarded to the winner by the Canada Media Fund.
Passes to the 27th edition of the festival in Montreal will be awarded to the winner by MUTEK.
360° & Dome
A fiction or documentary project in which the audience is immersed in the image, or whose interactive aspect adds to the user's experience. It can make use of, but is not limited to 360° video and spherical video projection (dome). This includes all genres of fiction: drama, comedy, animation, etc.Independent Game
Game designed for digital platforms, providing immersion in a story and/or entertainment through the player's actions in a virtual environment.The game's budget is less than 3 million Canadian dollars. This category includes all types of games on all platforms.
ATTENTION: Demos and early versions are NOT accepted. Games that will undergo updates and additional contents are eligible, but the jury must have access to a final, marketed version of the game.
A pro pass to MIGS 2026 will be awarded to the winner by La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec.
Immersive Walks & Entertainment experiences
Project or journey specially designed to be shown in a specific location (in situ), offering an experience. It can highlight cultural works, take the viewer on an immersive journey, present an artist's work from an aesthetic angle, or immerse the viewer in his or her visuals. It uses mainly, but not exclusively, video projections (mapping).Installation, Projection-Mapping & Public Art
Project or journey specially designed to be shown in a specific location (in situ), offering a playful, contemplative or participative installation. It can encourage users to interact, entertain them through their participation, appeal to several senses or educate them in a playful way about the project's theme. It can mainly, but not exclusively, take the form of installations in public spaces and video projections (mapping).Passes to the 27th edition of the festival in Montreal will be awarded to the winner by MUTEK.
Two days of OFFSITE at Espace Rodier, including room hire and basic services, will be offered to the winner by La Piscine.
Exhibition
Project or journey specifically designed to be exhibited in a specific location (in situ). It creates a work connected to cultural, scientific, or historical content often presented within a museum space.Brand Activations & Events
Project created to promote a brand, cause, location, corporate or cultural event, using interactive and/or immersive technologies. This category includes 360° video, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), augmented scenography, video projections (mapping), interactive sensors, etc.Live Performance & Performing Arts
Scenographic project designed to enhance a venue, performance, experience, program or show (music, performing arts, dance, theater, etc.). This category includes video projections (mapping), interactive sensors, virtual sets, etc.Augmented scenographies designed to promote a company or business belong to the Experience - Branded content category.
Digital Art
A digital artwork or original sound experience, demonstrating an artistic approach and the use of one or more technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), interactive sensors, installations, video projections (mapping), binaural sound, robotics and artificial intelligence, to name but a few. Emerging talent
An original, innovative project by an emerging studio, creator or collective, combining new writing and technology.

Student emerging talent - Digital creation
A unique and original project by a student or group of students, combining new writing and technology. Candidates must be students or recent graduates (2023 or 2024) of a Quebec public or private institution. All formats and genres are eligible: installations, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), video games, etc.Free access for one person to any SAT training course(except those subsidized by the Quebec government), as well as a discount on these same courses for the project team, will be awarded to the winner by the SAT Campus.
An exclusive day of mentoring at the heart of Moment Factory's studios will be offered to the winner. Exchange with industry experts while discovering innovative facilities and workshops to stimulate creative and professional development.
International
*Only companies and organizations based outside Quebec may enter their projects in the International categories.

Social Impact Award
The Social Impact Award recognizes a project, event or initiative that generates a positive impact in the community, demonstrates a commitment to eco-responsibility and the environment, or has a tangible impact on society in general.A project submitted in another category of the competition may also be submitted for the Social Impact award.
A creative residency that includes three days of creative work at BEAM’s creative hub in St-Adrien.
International Success Award
The International Success Award recognizes the export and international outreach efforts of a Quebec company in the digital creativity sector. The winning company in this category will have demonstrated, over the past year, an ability to innovate in its business models, diversify its revenue streams, achieve success in its international projects, and promote Quebec expertise beyond its borders.A CAD $5,000 grant will be awarded to the winner by Investissement Québec International.
People’s Choice Award
The People's Choice Award is a project that made a particular impression and was a hit with the public during the previous year.The winner of this category is determined by a public vote.
There is no registration fee for this award. A project that has been submitted in another category of the competition may also be submitted for the People's Choice award.
Tribute
The tribute prize is awarded to an individual who has distinguished themself through their contribution to the Quebec digital creativity industry.Grand Prix
The Grand Prix is awarded to a production that stands out for the originality of its script and direction, regardless of category. The project is selected by the Grand Jury from among all the competition winners.This prize comes with a training course of your choice and 1 year's subscription (forfait PME) for the winner's company offered by the Grenier. The winning project will receive a “personality of the week” profile in the Grenier's magazine, in the weeks following the gala.
