Nadia Seraiocco
Hexagram General Coordinator
President of the Québec Jury
Nadia Seraiocco holds a Ph.D. in communications, awarded jointly by Concordia, Université de Montréal and UQAM. She coordinates the Hexagram network, a university research center dedicated to research-creation. After a career in communications, from 1999 to 2014, as a cultural journalist, but also in organizations such as the National Gallery of Canada, VIA Rail and Les éditions de La courte échelle, her curiosity for technology led her to develop an expertise in digital communications. Since 2013, she has been teaching at UQAM’s École des médias.
She is interested in the practices and theorizing of media research-creation, on philosophical and ethical issues related to the use of individuals’ personal data. For her thesis, defended in 2023 and entitled “The digital double and identity: between reflection, amplification and diffraction”, she created a conversational robot based on her personal data, which acted on Twitter (now X). A blogger since 2002, she has been a technology columnist for ICI Première, Radio-Canada and is a regular contributor to the media.
